Chinese State Media Voice Blasts Justin Sun Over Tell-All Post About Actress Jing Tian
Veteran Chinese media figure Hu Xijin condemned crypto tycoon Justin Sun over a lengthy tell-all post detailing his relationship with actress Jing Tian, calling his subsequent apology calculated and devoid of any genuine remorse.

Chinese cryptocurrency tycoon Justin Sun recently published a lengthy, romance-novel-style essay titled "My Girlfriend Jing Tian," in which he exposed the inside story of his relationship with the actress, describing even intimate details at length and stirring up a major uproar. On Friday, he abruptly stated, "It was never my intention to disturb Ms. Jing." But Hu Xijin, a veteran Chinese media figure often described as a "mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party," criticized Sun, saying his apology showed no trace of remorse—only calculation—accusing him of using a personal essay to strike at another person while trying to build a monument to himself.
In a post on Weibo on Friday evening, Hu bluntly called Sun "malicious," saying he had inflicted devastating retaliation on Jing Tian, to the point where even many people who dislike her could not bear to watch. Every day around the world, Hu wrote, there are men who lose their girlfriends; though they may feel wronged, they do not act as Sun did, who "should have parted ways with dignity but instead used a personal essay to 'kill' the other party."
Hu said Sun's post was absolutely far more than merely "disturbing" Jing Tian, and that even in his so-called truce statement there was no apology to be seen. Therefore, "the public will never forgive him," and people of conscience should take a clear stance against his actions, and should not erase the strong negative assessments of him simply because he announced a truce.
Sun currently dares not return to China due to legal issues. Hu said that although Sun is wealthy, he is like duckweed adrift, and cares deeply about how China views him. Hu advised him that, while living abroad, he should do more things beneficial to China, and stop stirring up Chinese public opinion and trending searches in vulgar ways. "Respect and goodwill are absolutely not created through petty cleverness—they can only be earned by walking the path with your feet firmly on the ground."
