Stephen Chow's 'Kung Fu Women's Soccer' Tops 400 Million Yuan at the Box Office

The comedy "Kung Fu Women's Soccer," directed and written by Stephen Chow and starring Zhang Xiaofei, Dilraba Dilmurat and Zhang Yixing, with special appearances by Carina Lau and Takeru Sato and special introductions of Amy, Xueye, Sisley Choi, Hu Yu'an and Ni Hao, is currently in theaters. According to Maoyan Professional, the film has so far grossed more than 400 million yuan (including presales), placing it among the top ten on China's 2026 national box-office chart. The film just ahead of it is "Avatar 3," with 428 million yuan. Given that "Kung Fu Women's Soccer" has been in theaters for less than two days, its ranking is expected to rise further.

Today, Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Women's Soccer" officially received its Douban rating. As of now, nearly 80,000 users have taken part in the reviews, giving the film a score of 6.6, with 17 percent of viewers awarding five stars and 8.6 percent giving one star.

The Tianjin stop of the "This Fire in Our Hearts!" themed promotional tour for "Kung Fu Women's Soccer" wrapped up successfully on July 11. During the post-screening interaction, Chow bluntly declared, "Chinese kung fu is the best in the world," setting off cheers throughout the venue, while the mutual affection between him and the audience brought plenty of tears. On stage, Zhang Xiaofei shared her thoughts on working with Chow, saying: "I think Brother Xing is a person with a lot of childlike innocence at heart. He has always used film to weave fairy tales for grown-ups." Speaking about her character Yulong, Dilraba offered her interpretation: "Yulong is an especially resilient person. She knows that if she falls into a very low period, she will definitely bounce back from the bottom and find the path that belongs to her."
