"Digger," the new film starring American actor Tom Cruise, was originally scheduled to hold preview screenings in Hong Kong on the 1st and open officially on the 2nd. It has reportedly been pulled from the schedule because it involves "sensitive content" and "political satire," with its mainland China release now indefinitely delayed.

According to recent reports from HK01, in "Digger" Tom Cruise plays one of the world's most influential figures who, after a scheme he masterminded spirals out of control, unleashes a devastating catastrophe. He must use every means at his disposal to prove to the world that he is not the culprit but the only savior, before everything collapses. The film touches on political and environmental themes, making its subject matter fairly bold.

The report stated that the film has reportedly been dropped from release in both Hong Kong and Macau over its alleged "sensitive content" and "political satire." At the same time, there are reports that the film may need to cut sensitive content, and would require the approval of the director and distributor, before it has a chance of being rescheduled for release in Hong Kong and Macau. HK01 contacted the film's publicity team but has not yet received a response.

In Taiwan, meanwhile, "Digger" is set to open as scheduled.
